ICIT Course Curriculum

Inner Child Integration Therapy Certificate course allows us to address some of our deep issues, rediscover and heal the hidden part of ourselves and the clients. It explores how our early childhood shaped our current personality and situation in our lives? How do we separate ourselves from old reactions  in present events and situations? How can we let go of old hurts and pain? How can we heal old pain and live consciously in our lives?

How can we become whole? 
This course allows us to deeply understand and heal ourselves from within while we are learning the skills to help clients transform themselves.

BRIEF DETAILS AND HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COURSE :

Inner Child Integration Therapy Certificate course is a 6-module curriculum and helps individuals aspiring to be Regression Therapists to deepen their knowledge. The modules are designed and delivered progressively where skill-set enhancement is guaranteed. 

● Module 1-3 focus on learning the Inner Child techniques, experiential processes, information and practice for your own healing as you acquire basic tools. It also includes understanding relationships, drama triangles, boundaries and dependencies! 

● Modules 4-6 focus on developing your skills and healing ability with advanced Inner Child techniques like working with addictions, abuse, working with parts of ourselves, non-dominant hand work, metaphor therapy etc.

Module 1 – Basics of Inner Child work

● Trauma and the Inner Child

  • How childhood experiences are locked into the physical, mental emotional, and spiritual system of a person, controlling their adult behavior

● Basic methods for Inner Child work and healing

  • Establishing the altered mind, the ‘safe place’, accessing inner children, positioning of the adult, parent, and Child

● The five stages of a therapeutic session

  • Five basic sections to a therapeutic session and how to conduct a session.

● Boundaries and personal and professional ethics

  • How to put boundaries between time, space, emotions, and somatic in the past and the present, knowing the difference between boundaries and borders.

● Interview techniques specific to Inner Child therapy*

  • Specific methods for accessing deeper feelings during the interview, when knowing the Inner Child method is not appropriate

● Anchors: Bridging between the Present and the Past

  • Somatic, visual, and affect bridges are the combination method for regression deeply to and into trauma from the past.
Module 2 – Understanding family dysfunction

● Roles in dysfunctional families, acting these roles out in adult relationships*

  • What position do children take in the family system and why, what are the behaviors and coping strategies of each roll, how do these rolls effect adult behavior and adult relationships.

● Child development stages

  •  How does trauma in each development stages impact the adult.

● Working with Introjections & impact of Verbal Imprints

o How external, verbal messages from caretakers impact the body, emotions, and mind of the child.

● Survival strategies, viewpoints and coping structures

  • Working with polarization, homeostasis, inner balance and harmony.
  • Behaviour – in outer world
  • When to work with the ‘child’ or the ‘adult’, how to regress to a traumatic
    experience, deepening the experience, moving to other related traumas

● The healing process and integration

  • When do you do the integration and how do you know when to “let it happen &, healing methods you can use with the client to shift energy?

● Closure methods & tiebacks

  • Helping the client achieve closure with the feeling, emotions, beliefs and body sensations of the past.
Module 3 – Working with relationships

● Perpetuating pain in the outer & inner drama triangle

  • Understanding the drama triangle, which is one of the most pervasive and destructive psychological patterns played out in personal relationships

● Co and Counter dependent Relationships

  • What causes these behaviors, how do they develop and how are they acted out in public and private life

● Inner and outer Voice Dialogue specific to Inner Child work – 1 day

  • How does the client work in a non-judgmental way with their own inner dialogues? 
  • Child talking, adult talking, chairs, pillows, structures

● Communication and Conflict Resolution

  • Once the wounded child is an adult, instead of using old, reactive responses in their relationships, they must learn new ways of communication, resolution, and interaction

● Working through fear and resistance

  • Learning specific methods to work with the client resistance, working with therapist resistance
  • Examples of what worked and what didn’t
  • Role play – blind

● Therapist Responsibility & Therapist and client relationship

  • Understanding the responsibility and boundaries as a therapist. Understanding common pit-falls and how to avoid them.
Module 4 – Working with Addictions and Disorders

● Psychosynthesis, ego positions, scripts and masks

  • What are your own ego positions, how to access them, work with them, accept them what scripts go with them, what are the ‘masks’ of your sub-personalities, and how do you communicate with others when you are behind your & masks”, what happens if you are ‘seen’ by others and yourself.

● Exploring the Internal Landscape

  •  Understanding the internal landscape of clients and how to work to get harmony.

● Techniques for working with addictions*

  • Causes of different kinds of addictions. Specific therapeutic and behavioral methods for working with active and inactive addicts.

● Dealing with eating disorders

  • Eating disorders are an addiction, compounded by body’s compulsions to eat or not eat to physically survive. Specific methods to work with eating disorders.

● Understanding DSM – working with anxiety, PTSD & dissociated disorders

  • Working compassionately with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Working with dissociative disorders
Module 5 – Working with Abuse

● Understanding physical, emotional and psychological abuse

  •  Understand what abuse actually is and the different forms of abuse.

● Sexual abuse, incest

  • o Understanding different kinds of sexual abuse, the child & response to molestation, working with guilt and shame, working with incest, conflicted loyalties, dealing with the adult enablers of the past and the
    client’s internal enabler.

● Sibling relationships, sibling abuse

  • How to work with the dynamics of the different interrelationships children have with each other in one family, what to expect in working with the child who is protected or abused or bonded in negative ways with siblings

● Working with the ‘inner’ and outer teenager

  • A teenager’s response is different than a child and different therapeutic methods must be used when encountering the “inner and Outer &teenager.

● Regression into the womb and Pre-Birth

  • The purpose is to go to the cause of the problem regardless of time and space

● Creating and using healing metapors

  • How to ‘hear’ the metaphors, examples of healing metaphors. How to set up process healing metaphors.

● Causes of spiritual abuse, reclaiming the Spiritual Self

  • Recognizing adult behaviors of individuals in spiritual conflict, Experiential Group Processes, regaining your Spiritual Knowing.
Module 6 – exploring the depths and the heights

● Discovering and integrating the ‘Shadow’

  • The Shadow is not what you repress deny in yourself, it is what you completely disown within yourself. How to reach these hidden regions of the mind and the psyche and how to work with them.

● Non dominant hand work, inner and outer expression

  • Why non-dominant hand techniques work, how they access the ‘other brain’, techniques specifically designed for lnner Child work

● Methods of body work with the abused child

  • Some techniques for moving stored energy out of the body. Specific, safe ways to do bodywork with a traumatized client. Reclaiming denied and ‘lost’ body parts, Working with energy to heal the body and mind, Dissociation, getting the client to connect
