I have been a practitioner of Hath Yoga for the last 10 years. I first found out about Kundalini Yoga in October 2015 and took my first class with Shirley. Wow, it was quite an experience!! I remembered feeling down and confused before I attended the class. However, after the class, I felt uplifted just even after one class.
I have never stopped since and have been attending classes every week! The difference in my life has been indescribable, both on a spiritual and emotional aspect. My friends and colleagues have noticed a difference in me. I am more in tune with my spiritual self and the journey has been incredible.
Shirley has been a great teacher as she explains the purpose of every class and we are encouraged to share our experiences. She is willing to answer all our questions and imparts her knowledge to us with love and patience.
I encourage anyone who is interested in walking the spiritual path and discovering their spiritual self to join Kundalini Yoga. It will be a fulfilling and beautiful journey!

I used to resist yoga till my company initiated a lunch time yoga session sometime in mid 2015 and I was persuaded to join the class and hence started my Hath yoga practice. After three months, I was happy to learn that Shirley, who facilitates Chakras Clearing and Healing meditations, launched a weekly Kundalini Yoga and I instantly signed up for it. I went with an open mind although there are lots of myths and fear about Kundalini awakening as a result of Kundalini yoga practice. After a month of practice, I noticed my heightened awareness, ability to focus better in my work, coping with emotions and stress and had more clarity in many aspects. Apart from improving my mental wellness, Kundalini Yoga also aided in my physical health in strengthening my immune system, correcting my body posture and eliminating my backache tremendously.
I am drawn to Shirley’s Kundalini Yoga class as I find that she is a very committed teacher who plans her lessons very thoroughly. During each session she will introduce a specific set of kriyas (exercises) and breathing techniques and coordinates the session with some beautiful mantras and concludes it perfectly with a meditation for every session. Her comprehensive and precise explanations on the intent for every kriya and mantra provided an assurance to us in knowing what we are learning. After the session, there will be time allocated for those who wish to share their experience during the practice or Shirley will address some issues or questions that are being raised. Shirley even set up a whats app chat group to encourage continuous learning among her students. These are totally different from what I experienced in other yoga classes. I will unreservedly recommend Shirley’s Kundalini Yoga lessons to all who wants to pursue a more balanced, healthy and happy life.

My journey with Kundalini Yoga has been a very blissful and soul-experiential journey.
For someone who didn’t have any yoga experience, I kept an open mind and hoping that Kundalini Yoga would be something different, and it really WAS! Instead of making you stretch and remain in those torturous pose, Kundalini Yoga is about easing into the position and listening to your body. In addition, Shirley is an excellent teacher for Kundalini Yoga. She never fails to give the explanation, the purpose and the science being every single set of exercise that the class had to do.
Unlike the normal yoga, Shirley often compliments Kundalini Yoga with a meditation that really helps to align the body, mind and soul, gain clarity, increase my awareness, and most importantly self-love. There was one occasion which I remembered going to the class feeling really down and hurt. During the meditation, I felt I was enveloped in a cocoon of love and compassion. The set of exercises on that day was working on the heart center and expanding it, and I remembered clearly that my takeaway message for the day was really on self-love and letting go. I had a lot of emotional release on that night. The next day after the release, I was feeling so much better- working on the heart chakra really released a lot of blockages and expanded my heart to becoming more accepting of situations as it is; and that everything in life is just lessons to be learnt and that only with love can you then grow and learn.
In addition, Kundalini Yoga has indeed aid me in my spiritual growth. There are certain sets of kriyas targeted on the higher energy centers and some that focus on eliminating blockages in the lower energy centers. But ultimately, to me, the purpose is to heighten one’s awareness level, to really be in the present moment and to be able to use our inner wisdom to discern situations in our life instead of having a “cluttered perspective”. With the increase in awareness, clarity and sensitivity, I began to love, appreciate, respect and listen to my body more and more with each practice.
Nothing in life comes in easy, and continuous practice is often required. To really see a change in oneself, Kundalini Yoga is the way to kick start off!

Before I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga, I used to be very quick-tempered, living my life aimlessly and without any goal, and my weight loss journey have plateau even though I have been adding more gym classes to my daily schedule only to notice that at the end of each day, I will be feeling very depleted of energy and feeling exhausted. I always thought that I have adopted the best and correct exercise technique and I am able to perform the exercises well, but ever since I have practice Kundalini Yoga, I discovered that Kundalini Yoga is a special form of Yoga that works a lot on discovering and knowing my inner self.
I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga with Ms Shirley Tay for 1 year 2 months now.
Shirley is a very patient, loving and trusting teacher to me and a Heaven-sent guardian angel. She takes every doubts and questions I have into serious considerations and gives the best advice without hastily answer for the sake of providing an answer to my questions. That being said, she acknowledges and will not forget any students’ queries/needs despite her busy schedule. She treats each student as a precious diamond. Shirley is very passionate and dedicating in the way she teaches in every class. During the class, she delivers a gentle and clear cues to each sets of kriyas and what to look out for in order to achieve the best optimal result from the kriyas and makes sure that I perform the exercises correctly.
Shirley is very encouraging and encourages me when I felt like giving up many times. Shirley’s nurturing approach towards her style of teaching and guiding me suits me a lot especially during my healing journey because she never judge me for who I am from Day 1 and she make me feel very welcome each time I step into ReDefine Wellness.
Shirley have definitely make an impact in my life with the positive change.
