While it is normal to have stress and worries in life; at the most trying of times, stress and worry can manifest and become a chronic problem for some. Feeling trapped in a vicious cycle of stress can make people feel mentally, emotionally stressed and physically drained, leading to disruptive conditions like sleep problems, inability to carry out daily routines, anxiety, depression and negative feelings of withdrawal from life.

During this one day of fun and experiential learning workshop, you will learn and experience breathing techniques, movement and meditations to change your mindset, manage stress and shift negative emotions.

Managing Insomnia with Meditation & Energy Healing
For Restful Sleep to end Insomnia

Introduction

Beyond making you feel groggy when you wake up, poor sleep quality can make you feel sluggish throughout the day. Poor sleep quality has been linked to obesity and weight gain and not getting enough sleep is also associated with an increase in calorie intake without any increase in activity level. Finally, a poor night of sleep can impact your immune system, making you more susceptible to colds and flus and lowering your energy levels for days at a time. 

With a  high-quality sleep, your body restores many functions and leave you feeling more energized and alert when you wake up to operate at your peak potential.

Programme Outline

Of course, it is not always easy to fall asleep, especially when you are stressed or have a lot on your mind. This one day of holistic and experiential learning workshop is designed to share with you proven strategies for eliminating poor sleep and habits to create lasting change with a holistic regimen that allows the mind and body to settle for a healthy restful sleep. You will learn how to improve your sleep quality, strengthen you natural sleep system and create an environment conducive for a good night’s rest.

You will discover and learn how to adjust some lifestyle habits that support satisfying and restful sleep.

You will also be learning how to use natural healing therapies in the right way and pair crystals and essential oils to cleanse your body and mind of negative toxins and heal yourself while leading to better health and overall well-being.

Introduction

Anxiety and fear are emotions often occur together and are triggered by perceived threats. It is a basic survival mechanism that signals our bodies to respond to danger with a fight or flight response and is an essential part of keeping us safe. However, when people live in constant fear or threats they perceive, they can become incapacitated.

Anxiety and fear are associated with many mental conditions such as  anxiety disorders,  phobias and panic attacks. Fear weakens our immune system, can cause cardiovascular damage, gastrointestinal problems, decrease fertility and accelerate the ageing process. Fear can also impact our thinking and decision-making in negative ways, leaving us susceptible to intense emotions and impulsive reactions. So whether threats to our security are real or perceived, they impact our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

Introduction

Most of us have varying degrees of physical or emotional pain. Very often, we tend to connect more to our physical body hence, we tend to give our external a lot more love than our internal. Although pain may manifest externally, the root cause is almost always an emotional pain that has become lodged in the subtle body (unless caused by a physical injury or trauma). These emotional blocks get stored inside the body until they start to cause pain. Facing our emotions and tracing them back to the trigger helps to remove such blockages from within and also relieves us from the physical pain.

I have been a practitioner of Hath Yoga for the last 10 years. I first found out about Kundalini Yoga in October 2015 and took my first class with Shirley. Wow, it was quite an experience!! I remembered feeling down and confused before I attended the class. However, after the class, I felt uplifted just even after one class.

I have never stopped since and have been attending classes every week! The difference in my life has been indescribable, both on a spiritual and emotional aspect. My friends and colleagues have noticed a difference in me. I am more in tune with my spiritual self and the journey has been incredible.

I used to resist yoga till my company initiated a lunch time yoga session sometime in mid 2015 and I was persuaded to join the class and hence started my Hath yoga practice.  After three months, I was happy to learn that Shirley, who facilitates Chakras Clearing and Healing meditations, launched a weekly Kundalini Yoga and I instantly signed up for it.  I went with an open mind although there are lots of myths and fear about Kundalini awakening as a result of Kundalini yoga practice. After a month of practice, I noticed my heightened awareness, ability to focus better in my work, coping with emotions and stress and had more clarity in many aspects.  Apart from improving my mental wellness, Kundalini Yoga also aided in my physical health in strengthening my immune system, correcting my body posture and eliminating my backache tremendously.

I am drawn to Shirley’s Kundalini Yoga class as I find that she is a very committed teacher who plans her lessons very thoroughly.  During each session she will introduce a specific set of kriyas (exercises) and breathing techniques and coordinates the session with some beautiful mantras and concludes it perfectly with a meditation for every session.  Her comprehensive and precise explanations on the intent for every kriya and mantra provided an assurance to us in knowing what we are learning. After the session, there will be time allocated for those who wish to share their experience during the practice or Shirley will address some issues or questions that are being raised.   Shirley even set up a whats app chat group to encourage continuous learning among her students. These are totally different from what I experienced in other yoga classes. I will unreservedly recommend Shirley’s Kundalini Yoga lessons to all who wants to pursue a more balanced, healthy and happy life.

My journey with Kundalini Yoga has been a very blissful and soul-experiential journey.

For someone who didn’t have any yoga experience, I kept an open mind and hoping that Kundalini Yoga would be something different, and it really WAS! Instead of making you stretch and remain in those torturous pose, Kundalini Yoga is about easing into the position and listening to your body. In addition, Shirley is an excellent teacher for Kundalini Yoga. She never fails to give the explanation, the purpose and the science being every single set of exercise that the class had to do.

Unlike the normal yoga, Shirley often compliments Kundalini Yoga with a meditation that really helps to align the body, mind and soul, gain clarity, increase my awareness, and most importantly self-love. There was one occasion which I remembered going to the class feeling really down and hurt. During the meditation, I felt I was enveloped in a cocoon  of love and compassion. The set of exercises on that day was working on the heart center and expanding it, and I remembered clearly that my takeaway message for the day was really on self-love and letting go. I had a lot of emotional release on that night. The next day after the release, I was feeling so much better- working on the heart chakra really released a lot of blockages and expanded my heart to becoming more accepting of situations as it is; and that everything in life is just lessons to be learnt and that only with love can you then grow and learn.

In addition, Kundalini Yoga has indeed aid me in my spiritual growth. There are certain sets of kriyas targeted on the higher energy centers and some that focus on eliminating blockages in the lower energy centers. But ultimately, to me, the purpose is to heighten one’s awareness level, to really be in the present moment and to be able to use our inner wisdom to discern situations in our life instead of having a “cluttered perspective”. With the increase in awareness, clarity and sensitivity, I began to love, appreciate, respect and listen to my body more and more with each practice.

Nothing in life comes in easy, and continuous practice is often required. To really see a change in oneself, Kundalini Yoga is the way to kick start off!

Before I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga, I used to be very quick-tempered, living my life aimlessly and without any goal, and my weight loss journey have plateau even though I have been adding more gym classes to my daily schedule only to notice that at the end of each day, I will be feeling very depleted of energy and feeling exhausted. I always thought that I have adopted the best and correct exercise technique and I am able to perform the exercises well, but ever since I have practice Kundalini Yoga, I discovered that Kundalini Yoga is a special form of Yoga that works a lot on discovering and knowing my inner self.

I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga with Ms Shirley Tay for 1 year 2 months now.

Shirley is a very patient, loving and trusting teacher to me and a Heaven-sent guardian angel. She takes every doubts and questions I have into serious considerations and gives the best advice without hastily answer for the sake of providing an answer to my questions. That being said, she acknowledges and will not forget any students’ queries/needs despite her busy schedule. She treats each student as a precious diamond. Shirley is very passionate and dedicating in the way she teaches in every class. During the class, she delivers a gentle and clear cues to each sets of kriyas and what to look out for in order to achieve the best optimal result from the kriyas and makes sure that I perform the exercises correctly.

Shirley is very encouraging and encourages me when I felt like giving up many times. Shirley’s nurturing approach towards her style of teaching and guiding me suits me a lot especially during my healing journey because she never judge me for who I am from Day 1 and she make me feel very welcome each time I step into ReDefine Wellness.

Shirley have definitely make an impact in my life with the positive change.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a simple yet effective energy therapy to treat physical and emotional ailments. EFT is proven to be effective on a variety of health and psychological  issues, including anxiety or stress, fears and limiting beliefs. This workshop expands your EFT experience from the first day. Even through with first day  you can use EFT powerfully and in so many ways, the second day deepens your understanding into EFT and its use in the healing process.  

  • We go more in to depth regarding psychological reversal (PR).  This is a vital aspect of EFT as it can block it working completely.  Knowing this will significantly help you clear and deal with issues which may have felt ‘stuck’ for a long time.
  • We find out how to use EFT to create our dreams and achieve our goals. We learn why things often don’t happen the way we want them to!  We understand why affirmations often appear not to work and what we can do about it.
  • We learn ways to find core issues – the real causes of our problems and limitations.  This makes the EFT healing process much more efficient, and is sometimes vital in resolving our issues completely.

It is a great overview for beginners to EFT and also a good refresher for regular users. I had a fear and this particular fear started from my childhood. I am a proactive person, who takes charge of changing whatever that is to be changed in my life. I would read books, go to deep moments of soul searching, meditation and thought I can release my own fear. But I realize despite so many methods I tried,

There was one day when I come to know about ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’. I am not sure how it would help, but a voice within me nudges me to accept this guidance.

The greatest gift besides knowing about EFT, is to have the chance to meet Shirley Tay. She is one the few rare practitioners of EFT in Singapore and if not for her, I really have no idea where to look for someone who knows EFT to guide me. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. This is so well said. I truly believe she is god-sent and our paths crossed for a beautiful reason. Her gifted skills to heal and serve have shown me a way and I am truly thankful for her existence in my life.

From the 2 EFT sessions with Shirley, I would say she is very dedicated, very professional, very knowledgeable and extremely caring. I feel so comfortable communicating with her. It’s actually not easy for me to tell a stranger this past but in front of Shirley, the communication was so natural. She connected to me like a friend who was there to share my problems and she assures me she is always here to listen.

I would like to say it’s really important to find ways to release our emotional wounds or stress because it’s really not beneficial for our well-being to try to ‘keep’ or ‘ignore’ them. Introduction

Of all the five human senses, smell is the most direct way to access our mood, memory, emotions, and even physiology. That is why aromatherapy is so powerful.

Deliberate use of essential oils can radically transform your perspective and interrupt negative emotions or stress, which we know is the leading cause of illness. Aromatherapy isn’t just a fad or trend.

The use of essential oils dates back at least one thousand years, where humankind has used aromatic plants for incense, medicine and perfumery for thousands of years.

It is believed that the Egyptians invented the first distillation equipment and created oils infused with herbs for use in rituals, medicine, cosmetics, and perfumery. Years later Hippocrates (commonly referred to as the “Father of Medicine”) studied the effects of essential oils on health, and promoted their use for medicinal benefits.

More so recently scientific research into essential oils supports their use in natural healthcare, and is ushering in a new age.

In this workshop we apply Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which involves gently tapping a sequence of meridian points on the body, complimenting with the appropriate essential oils in an empowering way to release unwanted emotions, rebalance the energies of the body to experience an inner sense of calm and clarity. EFT can be applied to release stress, phobias, negative emotions as well as physical problems encounter in everyday life.
